The disclosure
CurrencyLook contains affiliate links to third-party financial services. If you click one of these links and go on to open an account or complete a qualifying transaction, we may receive a commission from that company.
This costs you nothing. You do not pay more, and you do not receive worse terms, than you would by visiting the same company directly.
This disclosure is made in accordance with the United States Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), and in the spirit of the UK Advertising Standards Authority's guidance on affiliate marketing.
Where these links appear
- In the partner section on our home page, where cards are clearly labelled.
- Occasionally within guides, where naming a category of provider is useful to the reader.
- In display advertising units, which are served by advertising networks rather than chosen by us.
Advertising units are labelled as advertisements. Affiliate placements are labelled as sponsored or carry this disclosure nearby.
The conflict of interest, stated plainly
We write guides about how to choose a money transfer service, and we earn money when readers sign up to some money transfer services. That is a genuine conflict, and pretending otherwise would be worse than disclosing it.
Three things we do about it:
- The advice is method-based, not provider-based. Every guide tells you the same thing: get quotes from several providers, compare the exact amount the recipient will receive, and choose the highest number. That method will regularly lead you to a provider we earn nothing from, and we would rather publish advice that works than advice that pays.
- Commission does not buy placement or praise. We do not accept payment for a specific ranking, rating or recommendation, and we do not let a commercial relationship change what a guide says.
- Rates are never affected. The exchange rates shown on this site are fetched from independent data sources. No partner can influence them.
We cannot promise that a partner is the cheapest option for your particular transfer, because that depends on the amount, the corridor, the payout method and the day. Anyone who tells you a single provider is always cheapest is selling something. Compare before you send.
Advertising
We display advertising served by third-party networks, including Google AdSense. These advertisers are not selected by us individually and their appearance on this site is not an endorsement. Advertising networks may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing; our privacy policy covers this and explains your options for controlling it.
Not financial advice
CurrencyLook is an information site. We are not licensed financial advisers, brokers or money transmitters. Nothing here is a personal recommendation, and none of it takes account of your circumstances. Financial products carry risk, including the risk of losing money. Before acting, check the provider's own terms, confirm they are authorised by the relevant regulator in your country, and take professional advice where the amounts justify it.
